Measuring Non-Degree Credential Attainment

Non-degree credentials, such as certificates and industry certifications have value in the labor market. They can help states meet their postsecondary attainment goals, and prepare people for the workforce. The Workforce Data Quality Campaign (WDQC) hosted a webinar on June 18th to share how officials from Iowa, Missouri, and Tennessee have begun to collect data about these valuable credentials.

Panelists:

  • Jonathan Attridge, Research Manager, Office of Research and Strategy at the Tennessee Department of Education, explained how Tennessee has collected industry certification data.
  • Jeremy Kintzel, Director of Data and Research Services at Missouri Department of Higher Education, discussed how Missouri has collected data about certificates resulting from non-credit programs.
  • Ryan Murphy, Bureau Chief at Iowa Workforce Development, shared Iowa's experience collecting information on Registered Apprenticeship certificates.

Moderator: Jenna Leventoff, Senior Policy Analyst, Workforce Data Quality Campaign
