Local Workforce and Community Development Fly-in

NSC brought local leaders from five cities to Washington, D.C., on July 9-10 to discuss recommendations for better aligning workforce and community development through federal policy. Participants met with Ben Seigel, Deputy Director of the Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships (Labor), to discuss federal interagency collaborations. The group shared policy recommendations with staff from the White House Council on Strong Cities, Strong Communities as well as with agency officials including Assistant Secretary Jane Oates (Labor), Assistant Secretary Brenda Dann-Messier (Education), Deputy Assistant Secretary Deb Gross and Director of Public Housing Support Services Ron Ashford (Housing and Urban Development), and Director of Public Engagement Bryna Helfer (Transportation).

The following month, NSC released Building Pathways to Employment in America's Cities through Integrated Workforce and Community Development, a report summarizing their policy recommendations.
