The 2015 Skills Summit kicked off on February 8th at the Hilton Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia with plenaries and content-rich concurrent sessions. Participants learned about key funding and policy issues like WIOA implementation; new job-driven training investments and pending higher education and career & technical education reauthorizations; state-based policy efforts; and effective communication and advocacy tactics. The Summit concluded on Tuesday, February 10 with a full day of meetings with policymakers and staff on Capitol Hill – these meetings were particularly timely with a new Congress and provided participants a chance to educate elected officials about their work.
