Measuring Wages & Credentials
Two of the most important outcomes of workforce and education programs are attaining a credential and earning income. Despite their importance, there is no source of comprehensive data on either credentials or wages. While states and the Department of Education have data on degrees and long-term certificates from public institutions, there is a lack of data on short-term certificates, industry certifications, licenses, apprenticeship certificates, and credentials from private providers. Also, there is no source of comprehensive, nationwide data on employment and earnings that can be readily accessed for use by policymakers, researchers, or consumers to assess the outcomes of education and workforce programs.
