CIAW hosts workforce webinar.

September 12, 2012

On September 5, nearly 600 individuals and 40 national organizations tuned into a Campaign to Invest in America’s Workforce-sponsored webinar, Washington Update: Making the Case for Workforce Development, to discuss the budgetary and political landscape as it relates to workforce development programs. During the webinar, NSC Federal Policy Director Rachel Gragg joined other national policy experts to:
  • Provide the latest information on funding levels for FY13 and the politics surrounding funding decisions;
  • Discuss the potential impact sequestration may have on workforce development and job training programs nationwide;
  • Recommend specific actions that workforce advocates can take NOW to ensure our programs do not lose additional funding; and
  • Highlight resources available to facilitate outreach and educational efforts.

NSC members are already participating in efforts to raise policymakers’ awareness of the potential impact of these cuts. As the debate in Washington over deficit reduction and the role of the federal government goes on, it is critical that policymakers hear about the impact their decisions have in their communities.

Funding for workforce education and training programs remains extremely vulnerable and competition for limited funds is at an all-time high. To learn what can be done to avoid further cuts to workforce programs, listen to the webinar transcript and view the PowerPoint presentations.
