Michael Richardson is the State Network Manager. In this role, Michael develops, manages and coordinates NSC’s network of state coalitions working to advance policies that support industry engagement, skills equity, public accountability and job-driven investment in coordination with NSC staff, national partners, and coalition leaders. Michael joined NSC in 2017.
Prior to joining NSC, Michael was Advocacy Coordinator for the Poverty to Prosperity team at the Center for American Progress. He worked with national, state and local coalitions and organizations to provide resources, messaging and advocacy tools and coordinated campaigns. He also managed and developed the story network —a growing network of people who have experienced poverty and who use their personal stories to take action in the media and with policymakers.
Michael has also worked as a community organizer in New Orleans and as as a manager for an On-the-Job Training program funded through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act in Eastern North Carolina. Michael holds a bachelor’s degree from Morehouse College, where he studied Psychology. He went on to serve as a Bill Emerson National Hunger Fellow.
