DOL announces WIF grantees.
On June 14, the Department of Labor (DOL) announced nearly $150 million in grants awarded under the Workforce Innovation Fund (WIF). Twenty-six grants—ranging from $1 million to $12 million—were awarded to state workforce agencies, local workforce investment boards, and one grantee serving Indian and Native American communities. Although the original solicitation for grant applications (SGA) announced that $98 million would be awarded, DOL decided to increase the grant awards using additional funding from FY 2011 and 2012. A complete list of grantees is available on the Agency’s website.
The WIF was created under the Fiscal Year (FY) 2011 Continuing Additional Appropriations Amendments (P.L. 112-8), and was originally funded at $125 million; this funding was reduced to just under $50 million in FY 2012.
DOL also announced the availability of $20 million for “Pay for Success Pilot Projects” grants under a second round of WIF funding. Grant applications are due by December 11, 2012.
