As State Policy Director, Bryan leads NSC’s efforts to assist state-based coalitions and policymakers in the development of specific policy proposals, including providing in-depth analyses of model state policies and proposals. He also provides assistance with policy implementation and measuring the impact of policy changes. Bryan works to align state policy activities with NSC’s national policy goals, and helps to inform federal advocacy so it is consistent with the needs of states and local practitioners. He joined NSC in 2013.
Prior to joining NSC, Bryan was the deputy director of Washington state’s Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board, which oversees both the state’s workforce development and career and technical education programs at the secondary and postsecondary levels. He also held policy posts in the Washington state governor’s office and in the state House of Representatives.
Bryan holds a doctorate degree from Rutgers University, a masters from the University of Oregon, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. He is based in Washington, DC.
